Isoism founder Summer Winston modeled the JAJO Expo after Antigravity Magazine's yearly Alternative Media Expo. This new event aims to bring alternative art and culture to New Orleans on a more regular basis, and the July edition will feature jewelry makers, artists, clothing, hair stylists, writers and much more. Doors will be open for customers from 11:30 am to 5:00 pm and admission is $5.
You can find our newest member, Sweet Olive Soap Works, there along with MissMalaprop, who will be selling handmade and eco-friendly goods made by herself and other artists, including embroidery kits and patterns from Sublime Stitching, an Austin Craft Mafia member!
Here's a little more about the organizers & the venue:
ISOISM
Isoism [eye-so-iz-um] is the philosophy of seeking. If it's love, life, improvement, it's ISO! Isoism was founded by Summer Winston in July 2007 as a one-woman clothing label, with the goal of creating designs that would carry messages about pressing issues in society in a way that was both comical and digestible. This is the overall of goal of Isoism -- keep seeking personal improvement, and improvement in the world around you, but have fun doing it!
ZEITGEIST MULTIDISCIPLINARY ART CENTER
Zeitgeist Multidisciplinary Art Center (a.k.a. Zeitgeist Theatre Experiments, Inc. or Zeitgeist, Inc.) has been bringing alternative art to New Orleans since November 1986, including film screenings not seen anywhere else in the city. Zeitgeist operates without any paid staff or public funds. Zeitgeist is air-conditioned and located at 1618 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. The block now has 24 hour security from NEW ORLEANS PRIVATE PATROL.
