July Newsletter

Welcome to the July edition of the New Orleans Craft Mafia newsletter!

We've decided to have a brief hiatus with the Crescent City Craft Market during the hot months of summer. There will be no market in July or August, but we'll be back at the Big Top again on September 9th.

Worn Again Fashion Show

NOCM members dismantled designs and Claverie Crafts took part in the Worn Again Fashion Show at The Green Project on Saturday, June 30th. Participating designers took on the challenge to revamp the thrift store clothes and unwanted fabric scraps they were given, and they turned them into something fabulous. The outfits, along with revamped "thrift store art edits" were auctioned off to raise money for The Green Project. The event was a great success and a good time was had by all!

Uncommon Thread

Our friends in Baton Rouge are putting together the Uncommon Thread Wearable Art Show, which will merge fashion design and visual art. This juried competetion will be presented in a staged dance performance, and there will also be a musical collaboration, combining a local DJ with a string quartet. The event is set to take place on October 12th in Baton Rouge. There is currently a call for artists out & the deadline for entries is September 17th. Find out more at their website.
